About the Team:

The Grocery Outlet Recruiting & Training team is tasked with hiring and developing Aspiring Operator Trainees (AOTs). Our AOT’s are the crucial pipeline of Independent Store Owners. We have a very rigorous selection and development approach, accomplished by robust sourcing and assessment, facilitating scalable learning and development, cultivating and communicating best practices and leveraging our unique culture. Our goal is to serve the AOT and Operator communities with integrity and accuracy while focusing on continual improvement, collaboration and FUN! The recruiting team is responsible for finding candidates who have a passion for grocery retail and an entrepreneurial spirit. The team fully educates AOT Candidates on the realities of Owning/Operating a Grocery Outlet store successfully, facilitates the relationship between AOTs and their Training Store Operators, provides an opportunity for families to build a business together, and foster the continuing development of an exceptional Operator network. Our training team develops blended training programs includes operator/mentor-lead in store immersion, classroom-based instructor lead facilitation with on-line supplemental learning. Training focuses on developing business acumen, along with leadership, merchandising, and marketing skills.

About this role:

The primary responsibility of this position is to advertise, screen, recruit, qualify and help develop outstanding prospects for Aspiring Operators in Training (AOT’s) to meet Operator attrition and new store growth needs. This individual will play a key role in the growth and development of Grocery Outlet as we continue to scale and develop new markets.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage GOI web site and internet sources (Monster, etc.) of employment inquiries for all regions and departments
  • Place ads for recruiting independent retail grocery Operators
  • Solicit store manager lists and top prospects from competition
  • Seek and acquire top prospects from competition’s best stores
  • Interview and screen AOT applicants for fit with Grocery Outlet culture and business opportunity:
    • Experience & passion for retail
    • Ability to relocate to train and for the opportunity to run their own business
    • Responsible financial track record with the ability to invest
  • Schedule interviews of AOT prospects with appropriate staff
  • Schedule store visits/interviews with GOI operators. Require written store visit feedback
  • Process, maintain and manage compliance of all screening and interviewing forms and files of AOT’s and AOT’s prospects
  • Manage confidential financial statements and reference checks for all AOT’s
  • Manage Search Firm communications and the resultant candidates
  • Process DISC, Values and PXT profiles for top prospects in new hire selection process
  • Administer Operator opening postings and selection process
  • Conduct reference checks for prospective AOTs
  • Maintain and track contacts and activity history in CRM database (Salesforce, etc)
  • Assist in development of training programs and materials as needed

About The Pay:

  • Base Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000 Annually

About you:

  • Proven experience in sourcing & recruiting qualified candidates
  • 2-5 years’ experience in recruiting, required
  • 5+ years management experience in retail operations preferred, preferably Grocery
  • Proven training and recruiting skills. Exceptional interpersonal and selling skills
  • Previous use of CRM or ATS and industry standard job boards preferred
  • Very strong computer skills, i.e. Excel, Power point, Internet, Monster.com, LinkedIn, Salesforce
  • Understands and communicate the concepts of business ownership
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, and execution disciplines
  • Positive attitude and passion for having fun and continuous improvement. Sense of humor
  • Demonstrated common sense and good judgment. Self-Starter, very organized & results driven
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
