ANML TCHN (Animal Care Technician)

Under general supervision, assist the primary animal health technician. Assist in cleaning animal cages, feed and socialize with the animals. Do laundry and regular maintenance; as well as assist the technician in charge with other duties.

Position Information

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. of supplies, equipment and animals.
• Handle, move, and transport animals.
• Contact with animals.
• Work with animal dander, bedding material.
• Work in restricted area, wear protective clothing, and handle bio-hazardous material.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work in an environment where animals are used in research.
• No smoking, eating, or drinking in animal areas.
• Position is subject to medical surveillance procedures and review in accordance with Federal, State, and University requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

• High School Education

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

• Basic knowledge of feline husbandry and handling.

• Weekend and holidays availability.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:

• Experience working in an animal research setting.

• Experience working in feline husbandry.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

• Knowledge of University and IACUC policies.
