Job Description
We are seeking an Animal Research Associate I or II who will be responsible for monitoring daily animal health and welfare while performing animal husbandry duties to maintain the quality and health of our animals in our Animal Facility. This role requires performing inseminations, blood draws and injections with guidance along with egg setting, candling and hatching. The Animal Research Associate I or II will also assist scientists with their projects. This position requires being familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in animal husbandry and animal genetics along with laboratory technical procedures and vivarium operations.
This is an onsite position based out of our Animal Facility in Emeryville. This role reports to our SVP, Operations and Animal Genetics and is managed by our Senior Animal Scientist. The working hours for this position are 7am-4pm, with the flexibility to start earlier if preferred. This role will require flexibility to work on the weekends and holidays as needed based on rotation.

Responsibilities:
Maintain animal records.
Clean cages and equipment.
Assist in reproductive scheduling and tasks, including egg setting, candling and hatching.
Monitor the health and well-being of the animals and provide food and water.
Perform inseminations, blood draws and injections.
Assist scientists with their projects.
Follow and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain records to comply with regulatory requirements.
Adhere to and implement biosecurity measures.
Participate in team building activities.
Other duties as required.
Requirements:
BS in a relevant field and 0-5 years of relevant experience.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in animal husbandry and animal genetics.
Knowledge of safety requirements and animal handling best practices.
Computer proficiency.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to utilize creativity and latitude as needed.
Ability to utilize experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Base Pay Range: $60,000-$85,000/year
The pay range provided is an estimated base range for this role. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, education, and location.
