Description:
The Staff Research Associate II (SRA II) will contribute, as part of the HTS (high throughput screening) team, to screening chemical compounds from both chemical libraries and medicinal chemistry synthesis to identify active drug candidates (hits or leads) leading to the discovery and development of treatments and cures for a number of neurodegenerative diseases.
The employee is responsible for screening of small molecules using cell-, biochemical-, and other screening based assays, and for converting assays to a HTS format. The HTS team is a key part of the overall multidisciplinary Drug Discovery research effort whose research interests span many fields of scientific research and report to the Team Leader. The goal of the team is to identify effective therapeutics against neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s disease, progressive supranuclear palsy, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, and multiple system atrophy.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS in a related science and one or more years of recent, directly related work experience following degree completion, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- At least one year of laboratory work in a research setting
- BSL 2/3 approved (Bio Secure Lab)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational and record keeping skills
- Ability to work as an effective and efficient team member, and to participate in team meetings and planning
- Enthusiasm, positive outlook, collegiality and scientific curiosity
