Animal Care Manager

ANIMAL CARE MANAGER for our Non-Profit, Monroe County Friends of Animals (MCFA) focused on caring for homeless dogs and cats and the operation of an animal shelter/center. Located in Madisonville, TN.

Our MCFA Mission Statement is: Provide for and continuously improve the health, happiness and fortunes of the homeless and abandoned cats and dogs in Monroe County.

Duties and Responsibilities:

*Understand federal, state, county and local laws regarding shelter administration.

*Review and guide the implementation of a strategic plan of Animal Care programs, processes and guidelines; balancing legal requirements and industry best practices within an approved budget.

*Provide leadership, direction and guidance for a well-developed volunteer support organization that is critical to the center’s success.

*Develop and promote education programs to increase awareness of our mission and animal welfare needs in our community.

*Effectively manage the emotional aspect of working in and leading a team in an animal shelter environment in a positive and professional manner.

*Negotiate and manage contracts and grants required for the daily operations of the center.

*Design and implement a recruitment strategy for volunteers, implement and improve volunteer programs, sustain volunteer involvement, assess volunteer satisfaction and mantain retention.

*Oversee and guide all veterinary practices.

*Manage paid, volunteer and inmate staff to ensure compassionate and professional Animal Care.

Qualifications:

*Prior supervisory experience in animal welfare.

*Excellent problem-solving, time management and written and verbal communication skills.

*Ability to demonstrate animal handling techniques that maintain safety while minimizing fear, anxiety and stress.

*Ability to work as a team and inspire great performance to achieve results.

*Current Tennessee certification as an Animal Euthanasia Technician, or eligibility to obtain such certification within 45 days of hire.

*Ability to balance the needs of the organization with the needs of staff, animals and clients.

Salary and Benefits:

Starting salary will be dependent on experience and letters of recommendation, range between $50K and $55K. We offer a Health Savings Account (HSA). Other benefits can be discussed when interviewed.

Typical schedule is Monday-Friday, with the ability to work weekends as needed.
