Anesthesia Technician

Job Summary:

The primary responsibilities include, but not limited to: safely anesthetizing and recovering horses, assisting the surgeon, maintaining anesthesia machine, disinfecting supplies, and cleaning the room.

Responsibilities:

• · Examine patient and categorize anesthesia risk
• · Obtain weight/estimate weight
• · Run pre-operative blood work as needed and review it
• · Confirm all the permission forms are complete and archived
• · Formulate anesthesia plan and calculate all drug doses, log appropriately
• · Administer any medications needed for anesthesia
• · Place IV, IA catheters
• · Keep Anesthesia Machine clean/ensure that all parts are in working order and passing leak test. Alert main anesthetist of any problems.
• · Clean and restock Anesthesia Cart/Make sure leads are clean/working correctly before and after every surgery alert main anesthetist of any problems.
• · Restock/clean anesthesia tote
• · Turn on O2 before surgery/Turn OFF after surgery (at tanks)
• · Change & mark empty O2 tanks as needed
• · Bill for surgery and for anesthesia
• · Complete Anesthesia Records, attach to file and print copy to be filed in Anesthesia Record book
• · Understand drugs used for anesthesia
• · Run/prepare anesthesia
• · Clean/disinfect oral-tracheal tubes, pack for sterilization
• · Understand meaning of and record intra-operative monitoring
• · Monitor direct and indirect blood pressures
• · Participate in on-call/after-hours anesthesia

Shared Duties:

• · Set Table back into Dorsal Recumbency in case of overnight/afterhours emergency
• · Set out Equine Colic Drape Pack and Colic Set Box on shelf of large instrument table
• · Run towels and scrubs through washing machine and dryer as needed*
• · Clean. scrub and disinfect OR and Induction Stalls with Tektrol
• Clean and repack instruments for sterilization
• · Wipe all moveable mats that have been used with disinfecting wipes or spray and put away
• · Wipe all Tables and Counters with disinfectant wipes or spray after every surgery
• · Clean and pack instruments

Job Type: Part-time

Expected hours: 10 – 19.5 per week

Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• Holidays
• Monday to Friday
• On call
• Weekends as needed

• Navasota, TX 77868: Relocate before starting work (Required)
