American Axle & Manufacturing has openings for Analytical Engineer - NVH at its facility in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
Job Description
Job duties include:
1. Develop CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) models based on NX/Unigraphics CAD models, using FEA (Finite Element Analysis) tools, including Simcenter or HyperWorks for automotive driveline and powertrain system NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) analysis and optimization.
2. Perform automotive driveline system dynamics, kinematics, and acoustics simulations using NVH solvers including Nastran and Optistruct to identify NVH risks that are related to gear train systems.
3. Perform design iterations and optimization studies to identify best design solutions to meet internal and customer NVH requirements.
4. Correlate CAE model results to vehicle and lab data. Process lab/CAE data using tools such as LMS test lab, MATLAB, and B&K pulse.
5. Develop new NVH CAE modeling methodologies and procedures to reduce reliance on testing.
6. Participate and contribute to program peer reviews, analytical DVP&R, design best practices and lessons learned documentation using advanced knowledge of vibration, acoustics, dynamics, and Finite element theory.
Required Skills and Education
Position requires: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electric-Drive Vehicle Engineering, or foreign equivalent education, and 2 years' experience working in the field of Automotive Engineering in the position of Product Development Engineer, or Analytical Engineering positions. 2 years' experience is required in each of the following:
1. Working with modeling and simulation of automotive components using finite element tools including Simcenter or HyperWorks.
2. Introduce and implement advanced CAE methods to reduce reliance on testing.
3. Working with NVH solvers including Nastran and Optistruct.
4. Working with vibration, acoustics, dynamics, and Finite element theory.
5. Processing and analyzing NVH data using tools including LMS Test lab, B&K pulse, MATLAB.
6. Working with CAD software including NX/Unigraphics.
Experience may be obtained concurrently.
