Position Overview
The Firm is seeking an ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) analyst to support all aspects of the Firm’s Responsible Investing activities with a particular focus on research, product development and reporting related to net zero investment strategies and thematic climate/sustainability solutions. The role will act as direct support for the Director of Global Equities and Responsible Investing and other members of the Firm’s Responsible Investing Solutions Group spanning Portfolio Management, Research, Relationship Management and Legal/Compliance. Intern responsibilities will expose them to the entire ESG value chain including data and vendor management, research, ESG and Climate reporting, development of sustainability-focused solutions and content creation for clients and new business opportunities.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with ESG team members to enhance the Firm’s strategic climate action plans and build upon the Firm’s Net Zero investment framework
- Expand the Firm’s strategy offerings related to Net Zero and Climate Impact solutions including strategies compliant with the EU’s SFDR Article 9 requirements and broader impact themes related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals
- Collaborate with Research to influence factor development and thematic solutions associated with climate impact, water, carbon sinks, circular economy etc. including a strong focus on renewables and clean technologies
- Develop a database of case studies to support various thematic climate solutions
- Support ESG data management needs, specifically related to carbon, climate and impact metrics across the Firm’s analytics, portfolio management and reporting systems
- Collaborate with IT/Research and Portfolio Management to enhance internal systems for reporting on carbon/climate metrics and alignment with SDGs including required reporting for SFDR
- Contribute to the development and production of climate and sustainability-focused presentation materials and other external collateral including developing RFP content
- Participate in presentations (internal and external) on climate/impact focused strategies
Skills and Knowledge Required
- Passion for ESG and sustainability as well as a strong understanding of climate science, ESG data, frameworks, and industry best practices related to climate and sustainability
- Understanding of emerging clean technologies, carbon pricing mechanisms and global regulations on climate
- Strong work ethic, flexibility, communication, time management and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical mind with the ability to synthesize research and concepts into actionable insights
- Accountable, with a strong sense of ownership and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Skills and Knowledge Desired
- Prior experience in Financial Services, Consulting, or ESG/Sustainability
- Domain expertise in renewables, clean technologies or transition finance related sectors, including relevant policy experience
- Coding knowledge (preferably python)
- Experience with data visualization software, such as Tableau
This is a hybrid position based in Los Angeles, CA which requires weekly attendance.
