This is a 2-2-3, -12 hour shift- only working 16 days in the month. Great Opportunity!
The Refrigeration Technician shall give constant attention to the refrigeration system. They are certified to operate, monitor and maintain the refrigeration equipment in a safe and responsible manner. This includes conducting rounds on a regular basis and starting/stopping equipment as described in the written operating and maintenance procedures. The Refrigeration Technician should report any deviations from normal operating conditions to the Refrigeration Manager or Director of Maintenance.
Perform repairs and preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of all plant refrigeration systems (ammonia) and refrigeration equipment
Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools and power tools
Respond to breakdowns, assess, and coordinate proper resources to address a problem
Be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, sketches, and engineering drawings related to refrigeration equipment
Suggest improvements in work methods and procedures by communicating with Plant Management and production supervisors
Initiate purchase orders or work orders for parts, tools, and machines
Performs at reasonable speeds, taking full advantage of the equipment available
Maintains an understanding of the flow of work on the production floor, from staging, through production, to storage
Demonstrate good communication skills with production team and upper management when it comes to the status of repairs, equipment, production lines, etc.
Completes required paperwork properly and understands the content.
Shows an advanced understanding and application of in-house asset management software
Understands and shows the ability to abide by applicable OSHA standards and environmental regulations
Observe all safety procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and good housekeeping practices
Acts with quality, safety, and teamwork in mind at all times
Perform general housekeeping duties such as cleaning and washing equipment, maintaining clean work areas and production facility.
Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by supervisors or Plant Management
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age, with a High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Ability to work and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes.
Experience or training in Ammonia Refrigeration systems highly preferred
Must be able to work pre-scheduled Day or Night shifts – schedules created with plenty of notice
Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions in English with high level of detail
Physical requirements: ability to work 8+ hour shifts, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, stand and/or stoop for prolonged periods of time and perform repetitive motions
Must be able to work in an environment with varying hot (110 degrees) and cold (-40 degrees) temperatures
Must be able to get to work independently on time, every day
Responsible for helping to produce safe, legal, and authentic products to the quality expectations of the customer. Supports, implements, and helps maintain and improve all Quality Management programs and procedures. Responsible for implementation, improvement, and enforcement of all programs and procedures related to BRC.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Employee will stand 100% of the time. Moderate reaching, bending and twisting 100% of the time. Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast pace environment at all times..
ENVIRONMENT: Poultry processors work in cold, damp conditions (40° to 50° degrees) to prevent the meat from spoiling. The work area surface is wet and slippery 100% of the time. Because processors work with knives and sharp machinery, there is a risk of accidental injuries, ranging from minor cuts to finger or limb amputations.
EDUCATION: Should possess a High School Diploma or the equivalent (GED). Experience can be substituted for education.
