POSITION SUMMARY:

The AML/KYC Compliance Officer plays a key role in ensuring the organization operates ethically and within the bounds of the law by ensuring policies and procedures are followed, monitoring compliance activities, and educating employees on compliance issues. This role maintains accurate records of compliance activities and provides support in investigations of compliance violations. As a member of the compliance team, you will play a critical role in helping to protect the organization from legal and reputational risks and in creating a culture of compliance across the organization by ensuring that all employees understand their responsibilities in maintaining compliance with laws, regulations, and ethical standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • AML/KYC Compliance:
  • Perform basic and enhanced due diligence KYC reviews for new and existing customers.
  • Review incoming client documents in accordance with KYC/Anti-Money Laundering policies.
  • Review and evaluate potential adverse information related to customers and customer activity.
  • Liaise with internal personnel to discuss EF Hutton KYC/AML requirements.
  • Escalate any unusual customer transaction activity to senior management.
  • Conduct regular reviews and assessments of AML policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of the Firm’s KYC/AML compliance policies and procedures.
  • Keeping abreast of, monitoring, and analyzing developing trends and changes in regulatory compliance laws, rules and regulations, and advises management of the operational impact of such trends and changes. Facilitating implementation of new and regulatory changes as necessary.
  • Develop and deliver AML training programs for all employees.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

  • Reports directly to the Chief Compliance Officer

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree.
  • Preferred Professional Experience:
  • 3 to 5 years in a KYC/AML, customer onboarding, or similar role
  • ACAMS or similar AML Compliance certification
  • General Securities Representative Exam (Series 7)
  • Required Experience, Skills, and/or Knowledge:
  • Understanding of rules, regulations and regulatory requirements (Bank Secrecy Act / US PATRIOT Act / OFAC)
  • Familiarity with relevant financial regulations, such as SEC, FINRA, and applicable state and federal laws.
  • PC proficient including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Demonstrates superior organizational and prioritization skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Must be able to handle highly confidential information.
  • Utilizes a high degree of discretion, judgement, tact, and professionalism, both in person and on the phone.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.

  • Occasionally required to position self in a stooping, kneeling, or crouching manner.
  • Frequently required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, machinery and computers.
  • Frequently communicates with others and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Frequently operates a computer and other electronic equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires some flexibility in scheduling, such as the ability to work evenings and weekends to meet client deliverables.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • May require ability to travel locally by car/public transportation, as well as domestic trips involving air travel for multi-night stays, and potentially international trips.
