Position Summary
The Aircraft Detailer/Cleaner is responsible for the efficient execution of the work scope and the maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alterations performed under the authority of the Clay Lacy FAA Certificated Repair Station and promotes the Clay Lacy Aviation vision, mission, and values to create a positive team environment that raises the level of safety, service, and value for our customers and employees.
The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 4 PM to 8 PM.
Job Responsibilities
- Effectively work with aircraft cleaning supervisors and leads to complete aircraft detailing and cleaning task.
- Communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers.
- Work with other aircraft cleaning team members to perform required tasks.
- Complete daily activities by ensuring maximum efficiency and take necessary action to ensure that all work is completed within a set schedule, and estimated labor and material.
- Ensure understanding of the assigned tasks and ensure the correct use of applicable technical skills.
- Assist the supervisor in identifying any additional technical training that may be required.
- Ensure that aircraft maintenance paperwork and forms are completed correctly as outlined in the Clay Lacy Repair Station documents.
- Participate and provide a comprehensive shift turnover.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices and take immediate action to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Work with supervisors and leads to ensure adherence to safety precautions and procedures.
- Inspect equipment to ensure it meets company safety and OSHA guidelines.
- Abide by all safety programs related to work, including operation of support equipment, aircraft systems, housekeeping, and handling of hazardous material.
- Abide by company rules, local and federal regulations, safety policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Full exterior and interior detailed cleaning/wipe-down
- Interior deep cleaning
- Carpet cleaning & shampoo
- Brightwork polishing
- Protect, prepare, and clean aircraft interior/exterior before and after maintenance event.
- Hangar organization and cleaning (Under 6S initiatives)
- Upkeep and storing of aircraft cleaning equipment.
- Ordering and storing cleaning consumables (i.e., rags, & chemicals).
- Drive company vehicles off site.
- Assist other departments as required including facility and hangar cleaning.
- Support the Clay Lacy Vision, Mission, and Values statement through the achievement of department goals and objectives.
- Contribute to process improvements and the development of strategies that improve customer service and aircraft detailing and cleaning.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Pass pre-employment drug testing and background check
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external clients at all times.
- Complete Clay Lacy Aviation and other job-related training.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, direct interface, over telephone and in writing.
- Ability to make decisions with multiple objectives and implement in a safe, efficient manner.
- Follow oral and written directions; plan and complete assigned duties on a regular schedule; and maintain good working relationships with others.
- Schedules are subject to change. Employees must be available to work flexible hours as changes occur, examples include overtime, holidays, and covering time-off for the team.
- Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks including but not limited to: facility cleaning, vehicle washing, aircraft cleaning.
- Ability to work without direct management supervision.
- Must be comfortable with working outdoors, day, night and in all weather conditions.
Essential Physical Functions
The following functions may be performed in variable weather and environmental conditions such as jet engine fumes, dust, or noise.
- Step up and down stairs, ladders, and vehicles.
- Work effectively while sitting, standing, walking, or running.
- Able to engage safely and effectively in gross and fine motor control movements such as operating machinery, company vehicles and handheld tools.
- Reach above shoulder level.
- Reach at shoulder level.
- Complete tasks safely and effectively that require hand and eye coordination.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull objects (broomsticks, ladders, power tools etc.) from ground level to waist and overhead, up to 75 lbs.
- Bending and stooping to pick up tools, and other equipment, up to 75 lbs.
- Stooping below aircraft wing.
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time, running when required.
- Climb onto aircraft surfaces.

Required Education
High School Diploma or GED.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 0 years of aircraft cleaning, detailing, paint restoration/polishing, and brightwork polishing experience.
- Minimum 6 months of auto detailing experience.
