Job description

Primary Purpose Participate as a member of the Special Education Adult Transition Services Program and provide overall support and training to students with disabilities as they transition from the high school setting to their post-secondary setting. Work under general supervision of the coordinator of secondary special education and immediate direction of a certified special education teacher. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.

Qualifications Education/Certification/Licensure High school diploma or GEDEducational Aide II Certification48 college hours or passing score on Paraprofessional Exam Special Knowledge/Skills Ability to work with children with disabilities Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to communicate effectively Knowledge of general office equipment ExperienceTwo years' experience working with children Major Responsibilities and DutiesAssist CCISD students with disabilities to become contributing members of the community through employment, education, training, independent life skills, and self-advocacy.Assist teacher by preparing instructional materials.Assist teacher in re-teaching IEP related goals and objectives.Assist teacher with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.Assist teacher in maintaining administrative records (data collection) and preparing required reports.Assist teacher in routine Adult Transition Program management duties.Assist in orientating students to their Adult Transition Program schedule and/or supervising/shadowing students in the community setting.Be aware of student's various medical concerns, condition.Assist teacher in managing behavior of students. This includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous student behavior as needed.Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.Work with individual students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by teacher.Assist supervising students throughout the in work-based settings.Maintain confidentiality.Exhibit CCISD Core Values of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality professional learning opportunities for personal growth.Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.Demonstrates proficient levels of technology applications.Participates fully in drills and safety exercises to provide for the safety and overall emotional wellbeing of students.Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.

Working ConditionsMental Demands Effective verbal communication; ability to maintain emotional control under stress. Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsFrequent standing, stooping, bending, and kneeling, pushing, and pulling; regular heavy lifting of students, equipment, and materials. Needs reliable transportation to work across the district.
