Job Responsibilities

• Provide supervision for all horticulture programs and technical assistance to all facilities and building/grounds supervisors.
• Establish, maintain and manage the horticulture budgets for HQ complex and institutional horticulture programs, to include approval and monitoring of all expenditures.
• Interview and select all building/grounds supervisors and render appropriate EPMS reviews with input from appropriate institutional personnel.
• Supervise the headquarters horticulture operation, to include grounds maintenance for HQ and support buildings.
• Conduct annual inspections of all grounds maintenance programs and submit written report to the Division of Support Services Director.
• Coordinate partnership with palmetto pride to grow trees for grant program.
• Coordinate sales of horticulture plant materials to outside agencies to generate revenue for program operation.
• Conduct institutional management review annually for all institutions.
• Other duties as necessary.

Must successfully complete two (2) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

• A bachelor's degree and five (5) years' experience in horticulture and greenhouse operations.
• Three (3) years supervisory experience.
• Must be able to obtain a SC pesticide applicator license within one (1) year of hire.
• Must successfully complete SCDC basic training.
