Position Overview: The Unit Director at Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro is a critical role within our organization, responsible for assisting the Program Director in managing the daily operations and administrative tasks of our Afterschool Program. In addition to administrative responsibilities, the Unit Director will be directly involved in creating lesson plans and facilitating engaging activities for a group of approximately 20 students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Management:
- Assist the Program Director in coordinating and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Afterschool Program.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Help maintain program schedules and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient program delivery.
- Student Engagement:
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Foster positive relationships with students, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
- Encourage active participation in programs and promote a sense of belonging within the Club.
- Administrative Duties:
- Assist with administrative tasks, including record-keeping, attendance tracking, and program reporting.
- Support in the management of program budgets and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with the Program Director to evaluate and improve program effectiveness.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by following safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized program space, including equipment and materials.
- Comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in education, social work, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with children and teenagers in an educational or youth development setting.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Enthusiasm for creating engaging and educational activities for young people.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
