Duties
As our dedicated Afternoon Assistant Teacher, you'll play a crucial role in creating a nurturing and enriching environment for our young learners. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Collaborating with the afternoon lead teacher to support their educational initiatives.
- Maintaining a clean and organized classroom, ensuring all supplies are readily available for teaching and learning.
- Fostering children's independence by providing guidance and encouragement during their activities.
- Supervising lunch and snack times, as well as ensuring the safety and enjoyment of children during playground sessions.
- Keeping children engaged in a range of activities that promote their growth and development.
- Actively participating in a collaborative and supportive team of staff members to create a harmonious learning environment.
- Pursuing 20 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in early childhood education each year to stay up-to-date with the latest teaching practices and educational advancements.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 and possess a strong work ethic
- High School diploma
- Passion for working with children.
- An understanding or strong willingness to learn about developmentally appropriate ways to engage with preschoolers.
- Team player and the ability to work well with the Lead Teacher and take direction.
- Organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to take initiative with work.
- Eagerness to learn about the Montessori philosophy.
- Previous childcare experience preferred.
Nice To Haves
- 6 months experience in a licensed childcare facility preferred
- Undergraduate degree in Education or a similar field strongly preferred
- Montessori experience preferred
