Early Childhood - Part Time Teacher Assistant/Aide

Summary
The Teacher Assistant supports the Teachers and the Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Teacher Assistant/Aide is also responsible to interact and engage with children in appropriate developmental activities under the direction of the Lead Teacher.

This is a Part time position for morning preschool for hours 8:30 to 1:00, with some flexibility preferred by the applicant.
Duties

• Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
• Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
• Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions.
• Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
• Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
• Follow all center policies and state regulations.
• Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 months of SC licensed child care program experience.
• ECD 101
• High energy.
• Ability to work well with others.
• An understanding of child development.
• Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
• Understand and abide by Spartanburg Quality Counts standards.
• Must be able and willing to take frequent walks, engage in outdoor activity, use hands, fingers and handle objects, to talk clearly and hear voices at different levels.
• Must be able to kneel, bend ,squat in the classroom and playground environment.
• Vision ability will include seeing up close and distances, to have peripheral vision and depth perception.

Nice To Haves

• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
• 1 year or more of experience working in a licensed child care center.
• CDA and additional Early Care and Education course work or degrees.
