The Role:
The primary role for the Afterschool Counselor is to help support students by providing assistance and guidance as instructed by the Afterschool leadership team. Furthermore, to be flexible and thoughtful in a manner that is aligned to the Ember Way.
These duties include, but are not limited to:
- Communicating weekly activities, including field experiences, with families and other stakeholders.
- When available, collaborating with other Lead Teachers/Practitioners around skill-building as well as incorporating our Leadership Index framework.
- Utilizing the Frameworks to guide interactions with clients (students & athletes) and coaching staff. - Aligned practice is key.
- Consistently reporting of day-to-day interactions with the After School Leadership team in order to receive feedback on best practices.
- Problem-solving day-to-day issues that may arise in a thoughtful aligned way.

- Strong general management and leadership skills
- Results-oriented individual – a determined leader willing to do whatever it takes
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; flexible, able to work autonomously as well as take direction as needed
- Highly motivated, capable of seeing projects through from beginning to end
- Solid analytical and communication skills
- Belief in the mission and educational model, and ability to work with the partners to achieve Ember's goals
- Reflective about personal strengths and weaknesses; balance confidence with humility
- Maturity, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and “roll-up-the-sleeves” attitude.
- Residency in, or relocation to the Central Brooklyn community is required

Salary Range:
$18-$22/hour

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
