ASSIGNED JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Advancement Relations

Department: Advancement

Reports To: Executive Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY: You will identify and cultivate key relationships with Major Partners, soliciting medium to large financial contributions to further the ThriVe mission - setting and achieving fundraising goals. You will develop and manage those cultivated relationships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify, nurture key relationships with major partners to invite and acquire medium to large financial investments in the ThriVe mission. Set, track and achieve fundraising goals and supporting metrics.
  • Provide support for events that impact Financial stakeholders.
  • Execute robust, New Partner, Newer Partner and Lapsed Partner retention plan.
  • Monitors all prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and major partner relations.
  • Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building major partner relationships and closing gifts.
  • Meet major partners for tours at center and/or mobile units.
  • Maintain stewardship contacts with major partners; adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflect optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to needs of the major partners.
  • Attend and represent ThriVe at community meetings, outreach events, churches, fairs and trainings for volunteer, major partner and staff recruitment.
  • Facilitate / track monthly major partner reports.
  • Respond to major partner inquiries.
  • Assists in updating key donor and church lists and pulling queries for mailings and other Advancement Campaigns.
  • Responsible for light assistance to Executive Director for Strategic Advancement deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Upholds biblical standards of conduct.
  • Must develop a comprehensive understanding of all facets of the ministry and be able to communicate the vision and mission of ThriVe® Metro East in ways that motivate all donors/prospective donors.

QUALIFICATIONS: Because ThriVe Metro East is a Christ-centered organization, the individual chosen for this position must be a committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and is actively involved in a local church. This person will need to be a Christian role model in attitude, speech and actions. This individual must agree with ThriVe's Statement of Faith and Statement of Principles. This individual must also show by example the importance of Scripture study, prayer, witnessing and unity in the Body of Christ.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent work experience) in field related to sales, public relations, marketing, ministry, etc.
  • Five years successful experience in major gift fundraising preferably in higher education.
  • Ability to understand the needs and interests of leadership and major gift partners in order to develop relationships.
  • Interest in all aspects of dedication to promoting fundraising priorities through developing excellent relationships between the advancement office team.
  • Successful experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments.

Language Ability

  • Communicate exceptionally well orally, in writing and over the telephone.
  • Use good communication and listening skills in assessing client needs.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, apply and explain applicable complex laws, codes, regulations and procedures.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials.

Math Ability

  • Have knowledge of record keeping principles and practices.
  • Understand how to analyze and track statistical data required to assess program effectiveness.

Reasoning Ability

  • Dependable, stable, and capable of following through on commitments.
  • Understanding techniques for dealing with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to assess cases accurately and utilize the most appropriate community resources to provide effective client services.
  • Use initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines; organize own work, set priorities and meet critical deadlines.

Computer Skills

  • Computer applications related to the work including proficiency in Internet, Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to operate in Ekyros.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

PERFORMANCE OUTCOMES & MEASURES: This individual’s performance will be evaluated bi-annually based on specific job responsibilities as detailed in this job description and compliance to the standards set forth by ThriVe’s Policy Procedure Manual. Appropriate levels of urgency and attention for tasks directly impacting ThriVe’s strategic plan and goals for client growth will also be assessed. Additionally, any areas in need of improvement, which have previously been addressed by their supervisor, will be assessed for sufficient progress.
