Job Description: US Cancer Management Corporation is seeking a qualified Advance Practice Provider (APP) - Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant - Breast Surgical Oncology to join Fresno Cancer Center + Central Valley Breast Care to help patients fight cancer. NP/PA is an advanced registered nurse practitioner or certified physician assistant who provides evaluation and medical management of Breast Oncology patients. You will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to patients with benign and malignant breast diseases. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of breast surgeons, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, genetic counselors, and other specialists to deliver the highest quality of care. You will assess and manage basic health needs of patients, address treatment toxicities, perform procedures, monitor for cancer progression or recurrence, and consult with professional peers as needed. You will work collaboratively with the treatment team to coordinate care of patients. All clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of practice and under the supervision of an attending physician.
Responsibilities:
- Perform history and physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, genetic tests, prescribe medications, offer risk assessments, and develop treatment plans for patients with breast conditions.
- Provide preoperative and postoperative care, including wound management, pain control, counseling and complication prevention.
- Evaluate and manage post-treatment side effects, as well as long-term surveillance and survivorship issues including alleviation of patient anxiety.
- This role will provide care to Breast Surgical Oncology patients, including breast abnormalities, high risk surveillance and long-term follow-up for breast oncology patients.
- Order appropriate laboratory studies; identify appropriate pharmacologic agents and non-pharmacologic interventions.
- Educate and counsel patients and their families on breast health, disease prevention, treatment options, and survivorship issues.
- Coordinate care across the continuum, ensuring timely referrals, follow-ups, and communication with other providers and agencies.
- Document and code all patient encounters in the electronic medical record system.
- Maintain current knowledge and skills in Breast Surgical Oncology, adhering to evidence-based practice guidelines and professional standards.
- This role is responsible for an independent clinical practice.
- Participate in conferences and committees, quality improvement, and professional development activities.
Qualifications:
- Strong team player with a positive outlook and a proactive approach. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team is essential.
- One year of NP or PA-C experience in Oncology required. Experience in Breast Oncology preferred.
- Current California RN, NP/PA License, BLS, ACLS, DEA License.
- Demonstrated competence in clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and surgical skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to patient-centered care, quality improvement, and professional growth.
- Graduate of an accredited MSN or PA program with a focus in Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required; national NP or PA certification required.
