Adult Residential Treatment Counselor
The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) is seeking a Treatment Counselor in Santa Barbara at our Adult Residential Treatment Center.
Interesting and rewarding position working with adults who need residential care to begin their recovery from drugs and/or alcohol. We work with adults who are self-referred, referred from an outside source, and/or court mandated. Be a part of a robust team of Alcohol and Drug Counselors and Therapists assisting individuals in the residential setting.
As an important member of our team, the Case Manager interacts with our clients, helps connect them to support services, works closely with our treatment team, and helps move toward our mission of recovery and health.

Training in the field of substance abuse counseling and case management is on-going with this position, which provides opportunities to develop skills in the field of counseling and case management.
QUALIFICATIONS:

• Background in behavioral health work is preferred, but equivalent experience is acceptable
• Experience in the field of alcohol/drug counseling preferred
• Willingness to work with alcoholics and addicts in an acute detoxification setting
• Certificate in Alcohol/Drug Counseling
• Language skills sufficient to write appropriate professional reports and to communicate verbally with judges, attorneys, physicians, employers, and other professionals as well as with clients from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds
• Public speaking skills sufficient for purposes of outreach presentations
• High standard of professional ethics

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conducting individual intake, assessment, and referral counseling sessions with clients
• Following established medical assessment protocol during intake to determine the appropriateness of client admission to the program
• Making appropriate medical referrals prior to admission for those potential clients whose health may pose a threat to themselves or others during treatment
• Securing and dispensing prescription medications to clients in treatment
• Collecting client fees and assisting in Medi-Cal identification, eligibility processing, and billing
• Leading education/information groups with clients
• Attending agency and program clinical supervision meetings
• Providing outreach information and education presentations to appropriate community agencies and potential clients
• Properly maintaining all written records and forms required and assuring that all reports to the agency and to funding sources are prepared and submitted in a timely manner
• Assuring the availability of information and referral services to all clients as indicated by client need
• Upholding a professional image of CADA at all times
• Maintaining a clean environment in all space used by the program and of the clinic and office space between cleaning service visits

This is a full time (30-40hrs/wk) position with benefits, including health, dental, retirement, & vacation/holiday/sick.

• MUST BE available Weekends/Evenings

Salary Range: $22-$25 dependent on qualifications and experience.
