The Financial Representative is responsible for obtaining benefits, medical insurance authorizations, and follow-up related to financial services for incoming Craig Hospital patients. This position will also be responsible for benefit and financial related tasks.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Licensure/Certification/Registrations: none
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience: Medical knowledge of neurologic rehabilitation strongly preferred. Medical insurance or admission experience strongly preferred.
- Skills & Abilities: Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Skilled in working professionally with individuals inside and outside of Craig Hospital. Working knowledge of EMR systems, experience with EPIC strongly preferred. Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities and prioritize and schedule accordingly. Must be able to successfully and effectively communicate with a variety of personnel. Work collaboratively with other departments and physicians. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position. Proven analytical, problem-solving, and trouble-shooting skills. Gather, analyze and synthesize information and data from multiple sources. Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and the health insurance industry, to include benefit verification. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Interview patients or family members to obtain demographic and financial information required to complete the registration/admission and record the information in the electronic medical record system. Complete all funding verification for patients in a timely manner. Ensure all needed documentation is signed in a timely manner.
- Communicate with Financial Representative Supervisor regarding status of benefit collection, status of pre-certifications, and any concerns or problems regarding patient benefits.
- Provide accurate information of Craig's programs and hospital information when outside organizations or customers inquire.
- Respond in a timely manner to inquiry calls from hospital discharge planners, families, and other referral sources. Greet, inform, direct, assist and provide the highest level of customer service to patients, patient families, visitors, fellow employees, referral sources and insurance companies.
- Create a positive experience for patients, family members or others while performing tasks such as pre-admitting, admitting, registering, routing or escorting patients, family members or visitors.
- Coordinate with the Unit secretaries/Nursing teams for planned admissions.
