The ER Admissions Representative is responsible for greeting patients in the Emergency Department, answering the Emergency Department and hospital main telephone lines, perform insurance verification, deliver coordination of benefits to patients, point of service collections and performing registration duties. This position requires exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills. The Admissions Representative will communicate in a compassionate and professional manner with patients and other hospital staff.
Education: Experience or training in healthcare office setting preferred. Experience or training in customer service/relations. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Requires ability to work cooperatively with other employees, other departments and the public. Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines is required. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and concentrate in a busy environment is required. Ability to use common computer system and business software is necessary.

Essential Functions:
1. Observes professional ethics in maintaining confidential information concerning the personal, financial, medical, or employment status of a patient of GVH and their families.
2. Responsible for answering the main telephone line at the nurse’s station and after-hours for answering the main hospital telephone line.
3. Responsible for creating temporary registrations for patients by completing an after-hours admissions form and required documents and entering basic demographic information into the Evident software
4. Ability to read and validate provider orders and clinical documentation, including abbreviations.
5. Changes patient account Stay Types and Service Codes per physician orders in a timely and accurate manner
6. Completes the Medicare Secondary Payor Questionnaire on all Medicare patients at the time of admission.
7. Accurately completes and explains all required forms to patients including the Conditions of Service, Patient Rights and Responsibilities, Notice of Privacy Practices, and the Patient Portal.
8. Uploads registrations into the T System Emergency Department software and demonstrates competence in its use.
9. Assists ED Unit Coordinator with patient chart needs per standard protocol for inpatient, observation, and surgery patients with all required clinical and consent forms
10. Ensures that all security measures are followed per policy
11. Leads the ER representatives in on call schedule, regular schedules and coverage, and training.

Compensation: $18.00 - $21.60/hour DOE
