Position Summary
Anticipated Hiring Hourly Range: $19.00-$22.50 per hour
The Admissions Counselor is responsible for the recruitment of new freshmen and transfer students to Fresno Pacific University. This position provides assistance with the planning, implementation, execution, and evaluation of the Fresno Pacific University Undergraduate Admission Recruitment and Communication plan to successfully achieve undergraduate enrollment goals.

Duties:
  • Provides high quality customer service to our prospective and current students, parents, faculty, and other constituent groups across various communication channels (email, mail, phone, social media, and in person)
  • Assists with the implementation, execution, and evaluation of the undergraduate admissions recruitment and communications plan as well as the overall university strategic plan as it pertains to undergraduate admissions
  • Develops and maintains contact with regional high school and community college counselors, local non-profit organizations, community contacts, and church leaders as it relates to recruitment for assigned area
  • Maintains and manages assigned territory which includes local and extended recruitment visits to high schools, community colleges, college fairs, churches, and other events
  • Provides admissions counseling to prospective students, parents, and other constituents over a broad medium of communication channels (email, mail, phone, social media, and in person)
  • Assists with the evaluation of student files for admission to Fresno Pacific University
  • May coordinate or assist with recruitment events and other programs as assigned by the Director
  • Maintain good working relationships with other departments
  • Data entry and maintenance of student information in database
  • Complete tasks timely with work that is comprehensive, complete, and accurate
  • Communicates clearly, listens attentively, and seeks to understand others
  • Collaborates productively with colleagues of varying skillset
  • Other job duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Two years of experience in school counseling or college admissions
  • Experience in Microsoft Suite software
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, customer service orientation, and the ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to present and interact with people in a warm, professional manner
  • Must be able to handle and work with interruptions
  • Demonstrated organizational capabilities, detail orientation and the ability to handle multiple priorities and complex projects simultaneously
  • Ability to learn new technology
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to respond to changes in a timely manner
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Bilingual (Spanish)

Environmental Conditions:
  • Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
  • Frequent computer use at a workstation, up to eight hours per day.
  • Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
  • Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
  • Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.

Physical Demands:
  • This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment. The position may involve travel for meetings and events.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: remain in a stationary position 80 % of the time, be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets/office machinery etc., operate a computer and keyboard and other office productivity machinery such as calculators/copy machines/printers. The employee is occasionally required to position self to reach items on the floor and in high cabinetry.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to communicate with others to exchange information including both over the telephone and in-person communication with callers and community members and be able to read a computer screen and paper documents.
