Summary



King County Parks has an exciting opportunity for an Administrator III position. This role will provide an opportunity to lead and develop a new team in the Operations section that is ever-expanding and innovating.
About the Role:
This role is part of the Parks’ Operations leadership team and will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring administrative services to meet the business and operational requirements of the Operations Section.
This role is recognized as a technical expert and will lead a wide range of administrative projects and programs, such as section information governance and contract monitoring. The role also involves researching and interpreting administrative and operations policies and procedures, while providing recommendations and guidance to help address issues and concerns. Additionally, the role will lead and supervise other staff members, ensuring team development and successful execution of section goals.
About the Team:
The Operations Section oversees the upkeep of recreational sites and natural areas across King County, which encompasses parks, trail systems, and open spaces. This responsibility is carried out through a structured framework of geographic districts, work programs, and system-wide support crews.

Job Duties

What You Will Be Doing:


  • Serve as administrative lead for the section, overseeing the review, coordination, and analysis of workflows and data.
  • Supervise assigned staff and manage work in support of the Operations Section.
  • Develop and maintain industry-standard information governance.
  • Lead specific programs or special projects, including developing presentation materials.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in developing, preparing, and reviewing operational plans and/or systems.
  • Research and interpret administrative and operations policies and procedures and make recommendations to management in solving issues and concerns.
  • Identify and develop methods and programs to market and provide services using industry/technology trends and make recommendations to improve customer service and work productions.
  • Coordinate and represent the section in multi-agency committees or task forces.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Qualifications You Bring:


  • Four years of responsible, independent work in supervision and performance management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a high degree of accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively problem-solve and apply good judgement and initiative.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously and complete projects with specified deadlines.
  • Strong skills and/or experience in Microsoft Office and customized databases.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and program development.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service roles with the ability to effectively engage diverse customer populations, answer inquiries, and resolve issues for a positive customer experience.
  • Experience in data management, including collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and guidelines effectively, and ability to provide guidance to stakeholders to ensure compliance.
  • Experience organizing and coordinating logistics and details for trainings and events.

It Would Be Great if You Also Bring:
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent.
  • Certified Manager certification.
  • Project Management certification.
  • Strong familiarity with Parks and Recreation operations and industry best practices.
  • Experience in overseeing internal auditing processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration within the administrative team and amongst team leaders in the section.
  • Ability to represent section leadership when designated.

Supplemental Information

Working Conditions:


  • Work Location:
    This position will report to Clise Mansion, Marymoor Park, 6046 West Lake Sammamish Pkwy NE, Redmond, WA 98052. This position will eventually report to the Central Maintenance Facility in Renton, WA once construction is completed.
  • Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is exempt from the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) and is not overtime eligible.
  • Union Representation: This position is not represented by a union.
