The Position
Administrative Intern - Graphic Design
Are you passionate about design and eager to make an impact in your community? The Ontario City Library has an excellent part-time opportunity for a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual interested in gaining valuable experience as a Graphic Design Intern. This position will gain exposure to various aspects of design within a community-centric organization and will collaborate with other staff to produce engaging visual content for diverse library projects, events and campaigns.
The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge in Graphic Design, demonstrate proficiency in Adobe Suite and strong team-oriented abilities, stay up-to-date with emerging design trends, exhibit personal accountability and responsibility, and have a penchant for innovative creativity. Additionally, the successful candidate will embody the Ontario City Library's Mission, Vision and Values as well as the qualities of a "Five Tool Player"- Leader, Thinker, Communicator, Operator and Public Servant - and the values of the City's Approach to Public Service - Commitment to the Community, Excellence through Teamwork, and Doing the Right Thing the Right Way.
The Graphic Design Intern is a paid, part-time/temporary position scheduled to work no more than 29 hours per week and is not eligible to participate in the City's health insurance or retirement plans.

Education
Equivalent to completion of two years of college with major course work in Graphic Design, Communications or a closely related field.
Licenses
Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment and throughout employment are required.
Desirable
Interested in pursuing a career in the field of Graphic Design, art or digital media. Previous experience with Adobe Creative Suit (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and Canva. Bilingual in Spanish.

The essential functions typically performed by the Administrative Intern- Graphic Design assigned to the Library division include the following:
- Works in Adobe Creative Suite; including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, AfterEffects and Premiere Pro.
- Assists with photo editing including retouching and correction, compositing, virtual imaging, etc.
- Assists with developing agency wide promotional and public relations plans designed to promote the mission, vision and goals of the agency and departments.
- Assists members of management, professional and technical staff by performing a variety of administrative, and technical projects and assignments.
- Assists with writing, editing, designing, producing and distributing various pieces of publicity, press releases, videos, or other media for use in print, online, social media, email, direct mail, and other mediums.
- Operates personal computers, printers, and other office equipment.
- Engages with the public to promote library services.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualification Guidelines
Education
