Job description

Job Description

Barks and Recreation is a growing dog walking and pet sitting company in southeastern CT and we need a couple capable, fun-loving, self-motivated people to join our team and grow with us!

The ideal candidate is a high-energy individual with excellent organizational skills, highly tech savvy, high emotional intelligence, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal communications.

Some Shared Responsibilities:

  • In all duties, tasks, and communications, uphold our company core values and mission statement
  • Processing client requests, managing employee schedules, and overseeing completion of services scheduled  to ensure we meet all of our commitments
  • Overseeing quality control of services provided via online auditing of pet visit reports & occasional in field check-ins, while dropping supplies to the field team
  • Provide excellent customer service, on-time follow up, and attention to detail to provide an outstanding experience for every client via our client management software
  • Managing our client and employees "first 100 days"  Standard Operating Procedure to ensure smooth onboarding for new clients and team members
  • Manage and execute the processes we refer to as “Client Love”, such as sending hand-written cards to clients for pet birthdays, loss of a pet, exciting life events, etc.
  • Engage on social media within various communities and on our social pages
  • Maintain positive ongoing relationships with clients & team
  • Maintain high ethical standards and professionalism
  • Multitask and prioritize as needed to meet client & team needs
  • Represent the company with integrity & dedication
  • Work with the CEO and independently to identify opportunities for coaching and development of Pet Care Specialists and carry out these meetings and conversations with confidence and tact
  • Covering pet care visits in the field due to call-outs and emergencies (0-5x per month)
  • Conduct video virtual consultation meetings with prospective clients to determine their pets’ needs and care plan
  • Track all duties and tasks in our project management software with attention to detail and teamwork

A day in the life of the Support Squad:

As a Support Squad member at Barks & Rec, you will be either working from home or in the office while responding to clients within our software system, processing new service requests, answering the phone, providing support to our Pet Care Specialists in the field, following up on leads, engaging with our social media following & online communities, and collecting information from clients to ensure profiles are up to date so the team in the field can effectively do their job. You'll work directly with the owner on a daily basis, helping with projects and completing tasks, research, and other jobs as assigned.

As an animal lover, you enjoy promoting excellent animal-related services. You thrive in our fast-paced, evolving environment, and you easily ensure various processes are followed accurately according to protocol. You feel good about helping clients give their pets their best lives, being part of a team that uplifts and helps each other, and being part of a growing, female-owned, small business.

On occasion you will need to cover for a call out or emergency. You'll head out and work with the clients’ pets directly for a portion or all of your shift. You'll be walking dogs in their neighborhood or on a local trail, visiting with cats to feed & scoop boxes, providing meals and medication as needed.  This doesn't happen often, but when it does, you would skip the office and head out to the field.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • 1+ years experience as an administrative assistant, secretary, office manager, VA or receptionist or similar experience
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
  • Positive, high-energy attitude, high emotional intelligence, and the desire to grow as a human and within your professional life
  • Eager to give and receive constructive feedback to and from your fellow team members, and the ability to conduct “critical conversations” confidently and tactfully
  • Resourcefulness, creativity, and problem-solving mindset
  • Expert in all or some of these softwares/apps:  Google suites, Slack, Zapier, Buffer, Monday.com, GMB, instagram & Facebook, Time to Pet, Wordpress, and other small business applications and software systems
  • Self-starter that can see problems and proactively enjoys looking for solutions before either presenting them or implementing
  • Desire to help and assist others
  • A portable laptop that can handle running multiple applications at one time, to work in different locations (no tablets)
  • A registered, insured, pet-friendly vehicle
  • Excitement and ability to occasionally walk dogs and care for pets within New London County, CT.

Job Type: part-time with potential to reach full time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • You must have consistent daily availability between 8a-4p, with some time available outside of that to communicate with clients, team members, or complete projects
  • You must work a minimum of 4 weekend days per month, as worked out between the team. Weekend shifts are work from home or office optional.
  • We serve clients 9am-4pm, 7 days per week.

Work Location:

  • Norwich
  • Your home
