Job Summary: The Payroll Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees. This includes calculating wages, preparing checks, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The Payroll Clerk also maintains payroll records, responds to employee inquiries, and assists with related tasks as needed.
Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing:
- Calculate and process employee wages, deductions, and overtime accurately.
- Verify timekeeping records and resolve any discrepancies.
- Process payroll adjustments, bonuses, and commissions.
Record Maintenance:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records.
- Keep track of employee changes, such as new hires, terminations, and promotions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant labor laws.
Tax Compliance:
- Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations affecting payroll.
Reporting:
- Generate and distribute payroll reports as needed.
- Prepare and submit reports to management and government agencies.
Communication:
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters.
- Provide support and guidance to employees on payroll-related issues.
System Maintenance:
- Utilize payroll software and systems for efficient processing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any payroll system issues.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate and seamless payroll processes.
- Participate in audits and compliance reviews.
Qualifications: Associates degree or equivalent; additional education or certification in payroll is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Payroll Clerk or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of payroll principles, tax regulations, and relevant software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
