SUMMARY
This is a temporary academic position in which the Adjunct Faculty member is responsible for instruction and evaluation of students in a hybrid setting within the discipline of Surgical Technology. Coordinates all aspects and activities of the Surgical Technology laboratory. Primary responsibilities include maintaining the lab environment; maintaining the inventory of supplies and equipment; working with students in positioning skills practice, demonstration, simulation, and remediation; support the development and maintenance of simulation experiences, laboratory activities, and experiments in the Surgical Technology laboratory; and supervise students in the lab and clinical setting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Educate and evaluate students as they demonstrate Surgical Technology skills and participate in simulation experiences, supervised practice, and skills remediation.
Supervise students to ensure that the lab experiences meet course and program outcomes.
Facilitates a learning and caring environment, which encourages critical thinking, investigation, self-direction, and respect for the uniqueness of each individual.
Evaluates student progress and maintains appropriate records.
Remains current with trends, issues, and practices in the discipline, as well as maintains current Surgical Technology certification.
Coordinate the Surgical Technology lab to include lab usage; ordering, monitoring, and maintaining equipment and supplies within the established budget; make recommendations regarding major purchases

Knowledge of skills, equipment and technology used in Surgical Technology; ability to teach, coach, inspire, and evaluate students; skillful in interpersonal and written communication.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Knowledge of ARC/STSA Standards; ability to work with a diverse group of students; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ongoing formal training designed to maintain and upgrade professional, instructional, and administrative capabilities.
CE - Continuing Education
Institutional professional development; Maintain NBSTSA certification with continuing education credits; and additional administrative, teaching effectiveness and Surgical Technology-related professional development
Work Experience:
Minimum Years and Type of Experience Required:
Have a minimum total of two years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in Surgical Technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years.
Minimum Years and Type of Experience Preferred:
Have a minimum total of five years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in Surgical Technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years.
