Position Summary:
The Department of Writing at the University of Alaska, Anchorage offers courses leading to and including Tier 1 Writing Literacy General Education Requirements. This includes all 0- , 100- level, and 200-level Writing courses. Adjunct positions are on a semester-by-semester basis. Successful acceptance into the adjunct pool does not guarantee an offer of an appointment. This is an adjunct labor pool and applicants are hired based on departmental need.Master's degree in English, Composition and Rhetoric, Creative Writing, or other discipline related to the teaching of Writing.
Adjunct instructors are hired on a semester-by-semester appointment. Qualified applicants for this position will be placed into a hiring pool from which instructors will be hired as needed. Acceptance into the hiring pool does not constitute an offer of an appointment, nor does having worked one semester guarantee that a position will be available the following semester; hiring decisions are made on a semester by-semester basis according to the needs of that semester's schedule. Salary is based on the adjunct pay scale as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and is dependent on the number of semesters taught within the University of Alaska system. Minimum pay is $1,234.76 per credit.
