An Addictions Intensive Outpatient Group Therapist is responsible for providing therapeutic support and guidance to individuals struggling with addiction in an outpatient setting. The primary focus is to conduct group therapy sessions aimed at addressing substance abuse and related behavioral issues. Key responsibilities include:
Group Therapy Facilitation: Lead intensive outpatient therapy sessions for individuals dealing with addiction, employing evidence-based therapeutic techniques to address substance abuse, mental health, and related behavioral concerns.
Treatment Planning: Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the clinical team, considering the specific needs and goals of each participant in the program.
Individual Assessments: Conduct initial assessments and ongoing evaluations to determine the progress and needs of participants, identifying underlying issues and tailoring therapeutic interventions accordingly.
Psychoeducation: Provide educational sessions to participants and their families about addiction, recovery, coping mechanisms, and relapse prevention strategies.
Therapeutic Techniques: Utilize a range of therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and other evidence-based approaches to assist individuals in managing addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed clinical records of individual progress, treatment plans, and group session outcomes as required by regulatory standards.
Collaboration and Referrals: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, make appropriate referrals to external resources, and coordinate care with community services to support the holistic recovery of participants.
Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support and intervention during crises or emergencies within the outpatient setting, offering guidance and resources for effective resolution.
Qualifications:
- Experience in addiction counseling and group therapy, preferably in an outpatient or intensive outpatient setting.
- Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic techniques for addiction treatment.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
- Knowledge of ethical and legal standards in counseling and healthcare.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and adapt to the evolving needs of participants.
