This safety-sensitive position teaches swimming techniques and water safety skills to individuals of all ages with disabilities. Exercising a high degree of discretion, trust, patience, and confidence to properly execute duties, this position is responsible for ensuring a safe, enjoyable swimming environment for all program participants.

Must be 16 years of age or older.
Possession current of Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.
Possession of current First Aid and CPR certification or the ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of hire.
Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience to provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of general pool operations and pool safety rules sufficient to create and enforce a safe environment for course participants and pool patrons.
Skill in the provision of customer service.
Ability to demonstrate professional behavior as a representative of the Town of Parker.
Ability to learn and the skill necessary to implement proper teaching techniques.
Ability to modify and adapt programming and approach to meet participants' needs and interests.
Ability to successfully engage participants with disabilities in programming without exclusion.
Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive, working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
Ability to provide proper instruction using both verbal description and physical demonstration.
Ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt effective courses of action using problem-solving techniques.
Ability to assist in the safe rescue and retrieval of an individual from the pool or assist and individual suffering from a medical condition.
Part-time and Seasonal Town of Parker employees have limited access to benefits which include: employee assistance program (EAP), one (1) hour of sick time accrued for every thirty (30) hours worked, and employee plus one (1) other member in your household a membership to the Parker Recreation Center and/or Fieldhouse. Full pay range is: $21.24/hr. - $29.76/hr.
