About the Team
The Risk & Insurance team at DoorDash is responsible for all things corporate insurance at the company. We are a rapidly growing and exciting function that helps DoorDash manage risk and safety with a close lens on the company's bottom line. We are looking for forward thinkers that are excited to help build out this team and match our ambitious cross functional partners at DoorDash.
About the Role
We are looking for a passionate Actuarial Manager who will be a member of DoorDash's Corporate Risk & Insurance function within the Finance & Strategy team. As one of the newest members of Corporate Risk & Insurance, you'll have the rare opportunity to improve our data capabilities, and seek data-driven insights to inform our insurance risk management decisions. This includes advising operational strategy and enabling optimal structuring of insurance programs. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager, Actuary.

  • Conduct various reserving analyses to inform operational strategy, enable optimal structuring of insurance programs, and support risk management initiatives
  • Lead the development and maintenance of reserve study for in-depth loss analysis and trend identification
  • Collaborate closely with senior team members to elevate monthly performance metrics and implement risk mitigation strategies
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless task execution within established timelines
  • Contributing to building a high performance team by acknowledging their strengths, and motivating them to take charge of their personal development.

  • Flexibility, resourcefulness, optimism, grit, and a growth mindset
  • 7+ years of actuarial experience, 5+ years of reserving experience
  • Several years of management experience
  • Experience managing relationships with partners and working with all levels of an organization
  • Strong Excel (or Google Sheets), SQL, and experience with ETL and Python (or R) is preferred
  • Advanced visualization skills to tell compelling stories with data to senior management
  • FCAS or ACAS designations
  • A strong moral compass and compassion for others
  • Experience working with commercial auto insurance in a reserving and/or pricing capacity (a plus)
  • Prior experience working with or for a gig or sharing economy company (a plus)

Compensation
The location-specific base salary range for this position is listed below. Compensation in other geographies may vary.
Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. For roles that are available to be filled remotely, base salary is localized according to employee work location. Please discuss your intended work location with your recruiter for more information.

California Pay Range:
$150,500-$237,600 USD
New York Pay Range:
$158,400-$237,600 USD
Washington Pay Range:
$150,500-$225,700 USD
