The Details: We are seeking a driven, curious, and high-energy individual with a solid insurance and data background to join our team. Successful candidates will be those who demonstrate a thorough understanding of the insurance data framework, as well as proven creativity in implementing solutions. The ability to work independently and collaboratively with a small team is a must.
We welcome aspiring actuaries who want to participate in our actuarial student programs.
What will you do?
· Data Organization and Development to build various of internal databases and enhance our data-driven decision-making journey.
· Data Research and Analytics to understand the intricacy of data elements differs by sources or usage and provide stakeholders conclusions to perform their respective tasks using tools like SQL, Excel, and Python.
· Day-to-day liaison with Data Engineers to specify requirements, review code and outputs, and move the project forward.
· Ensure successful monthly data ingestion and validation according to the SOX controls.
· Increase data efficiency within the organization and has a passion for data.
· Senior role: Define database strategy and prioritize improvements based on value-added to Palomar.
· Senior role: Liaison board for tech on insurance and actuarial knowledge.
What we are looking for: (Experience)
- Three to eight years of experience in an actuarial role (with data experience) or five to eight years in a data analytical role. Leadership opportunities require at least 2 years of leadership experience in a data or actuarial position with at least 5 years of experience in their respective field.
· Required overall understanding and experience in data analytics.
· Required experience writing complex stored procedures, views, and queries using T-SQL.
· Experience with source control and ALM tools such as Azure, Jira, Github, required.
· Experience in the Property and Casualty Insurance industries.
· Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science
· For those who are in the actuarial track, preferred a minimum of 3 exams passed with a desire to work towards ACAS and/or FCAS credential
· Effective communication and collaboration skills
· Experience with data manipulations in Python preferred.

Pay Range:$85,000 - $140,000
The above pay range is for all US-based roles based on function and level, benchmarked against companies of similar size and scope. To be compliant with local legislation as well as provide greater transparency to candidates, we disclose salary ranges on all job postings regardless of the desired job location. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and the opportunity for annual long-term incentive stock grants. In addition, we offer a highly competitive benefits package. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and qualifications, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
