Job Description
NextStep Kansas City is a paralysis recovery center, specializing in activity-based therapy programs, and accessible fitness, for people living with paralysis. As an Activity-Based Trainer, you will play an integral role in planning, organizing, and executing activity-based therapy programs for our clients. Qualified candidates must have completed a four-year degree in Exercise Science, or directly-related field (i.e. Kinesiology, Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology), have basic knowledge of skeletal muscle anatomy, and have professional experience with exercise, or physical therapy. Experience working with people with physical disabilities, formal education, certifications, or training in these areas is ideal. You must be able to work well with others, be safety-minded, attentive, reliable, and prompt. CPR and first aid is desired, but not required to be hired.
Typical duties include, but are not limited to: assisting other trainers during client workouts, long periods of standing, crawling, kneeling, bending, twisting, lifting, getting equipment, putting equipment away, light cleaning, and more. You must be able to lift at least 75 pounds, and reliable transportation is required.
