Description
· The Activity Aide assists in the planning, organizing, and directing activity programs for residents. Recreation may include sports, dramatics, nature study, social recreation, games, and arts and crafts in accord with resident's needs. The Activity Aide works as part of a team under the direction of our Activities Director.
· To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each essential physical and intellectual duty as identified. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
· Communication/Language Skills – Must have excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills. Ability to effectively communicate with residents, their families and other healthcare professionals.
· The primary functions and responsibilities of this position are as follows:
· Additional duties may be added as necessary to meet the needs of the facility.
· Implement programs of individual and group activities based on residents’ needs.
· Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team and attend all resident care conferences.
· Plan and implement Reality Orientation programs when appropriate.
· Plan and conduct activity programs to assist residents to return to the community.
· Plan and conduct Residents’ Council meetings.
· Plan and implement evening and weekend functions as necessary.
· Take part in in-service education programs and attend all in-service sessions relating to the Activity Program.
· Schedule and implement room visits and in-room activities for residents unable to leave their rooms.
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
