Activities Director - St. Simons

TITLE: Director of Activities

REPORTS TO: Facility Administrator

Non-Exempt

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The primary purpose of the position is to direct the development, implementation, supervision and ongoing evaluation of activities programs that are individualized to match the skills, abilities, and interests/preferences of each resident in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be required by the Administrator.

ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan, schedule, and direct activities, both individual and groups, implementing and/or delegating the implementation of the programs, monitoring the response and/or reviewing/evaluating the response to the programs to determine if the activities meet the assessed needs of the resident, and make revisions as necessary.
• Organize the Activity Department, including staffing as appropriate for maximum operational efficiency.
• Provide employee training and feedback to meet established quality standards: Complete new employee training checklist within two weeks of hire date.
• Establish department goals and quality indicators annually. Review and modify these as necessary. Program decisions and corrective actions will be based on quality indicator results.
• Submit weekly status reports to keep the Administrator informed.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS:

• Ability to make independent decisions.
• Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
• Excellent communication skills written in oral.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, 1 of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting.
