We are seeking an individual who will work with the Activities Director to plan and execute activities to engage our independent seniors. The ideal candidate must be creative, detail-oriented, well organized, have excellent communication skills, good computer skills, able to connect with vendors, entertainers, speakers and community leaders.
Experience dealing with Seniors is a plus! The person must be able to pivot, at a moment’s notice, if plans change. The candidate must be willing to learn to drive a 14 - passenger van, to take our residents on outings.
About The Reserve of Geneva:
We are an independent senior community with 66 one and two bedroom apartments. We are located in Geneva, IL, two blocks west of Randall Rd. We are staffed Monday thru Friday, 8:00 – 5:00pm.
Position Summary:
This person will work in conjunction with the Activities Director to create, organize and maintain a diversified and engaging program for individuals and groups. We strive to understand whole person health by identifying residents’ needs in the areas of mind, body and spirit by bringing in professionals in the musical, social and intellectual fields and exploring our communities on group outings. The residents have a voice and this individual will actively listen and incorporate their desires into activities, programs and outings.
Key Job Functions:
1. Create, develop and coordinate monthly activities and distribute calendar to residents
2. Graphic design is a plus in promoting activities and events to residents
3. Actively participate in activities with residents
4. Organize and arrange sign-up sheets for each event and program
5. Recruit, train and supervise volunteers, when needed
6. Drive our 14-passenger bus for outings
7. Purchase supplies and necessary materials for activities
8. Work within the allocated budget
Knowledge/Skills:
Must be able to drive 14 – passenger bus or be willing to learn, as this is integral to the role.
Strong organizational skills, able to multi – task many events and projects at the same time, ability to stay calm and patient with our residents.
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Must have a fun, positive, energetic personality.
Able to move furniture and lift 35 lbs, if needed for an activity.
Must be flexible with work schedule. This person will be assigned set days, but may need to work alternate days and/or additional days. Occasional weekend hours or evening hours may be needed.
Must be willing to answer phones and cover front desk when front desk person is on lunch.
Must be willing to set out food items for continental breakfast by 8:30 am and put away at 10:00am.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 20 per week
