HX5 is currently seeking a Acquisition Program Engineer to join our team at Eglin AFB, Florida to support the Long Range Systems Division of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center.
The Long Range Systems Division (AFLMC/EBD) develops unmatched lethality by delivering innovative and dominant Direct Attack capabilities while developing acquisition leaders. The AFLCMC/EBD produces innovative, agile, direct-attack capabilities to support the US warfighter and coalition partners. Additionally, the division is responsible for all Direct Attack FMS cases including Non-Inventory Weapons (NIW) Systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct reviews on armament programs portfolio to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance is achieved.
- Prepare management reports and conduct technical presentations for planning, implementation and corrective actions using application of engineering principles; perform validation of systems, including the development of criteria and procedures.
- Analyze and/or evaluate results of major engineering weapon systems.
- Provide system/Program Engineering, technical support and technical training to support programs/initiatives in compliance with Air Force Systems Engineering Assessment Model (AF SEAM) processes.
- Provide engineering support to conduct formal trade studies based on engineering performance, effectiveness, cost effectiveness, cost performance, life cycle cost, producibility, reliability, maintainability, risk, and schedule.
- Provide proposal analysis support services that compare and quantify proposed systems, components, approaches for technical feasibility, compatibility, and cost effectiveness; provide concepts and requirements analyses support services including, but not limited to, reviewing and analyzing: Initial Capabilities Documents; CDDs; CPDs; AoAs; Military Utility Assessments (MUAs); CONOPS; Technology Development Strategies; Functional Configuration Audits/Physical Configuration Audits (FCAs/PCAs), and; Technology Standards Profiles.
- Use principles, criteria, and procedures of DoD and AF policies and industrial quality standards for manufacturing and acceptance of armament systems.
- Apply the principles of MIL-HDBK-896, AS9100, and other industry higher-level quality management systems and ensure conformance to Quality related FAR and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) clauses.
- Develop quality-related requirements for statements of work (SOW), statements of objectives (SOO), and requests for proposal (RFP).
- Develop and maintain the Government quality plan for the assigned program(s); Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques, implementation of Variability Reduction (VR) programs and techniques, Continuous Improvement programs, and identification, evaluation, and control of Key Characteristics (KCs) and Key Product Characteristics (KPCs).
- Identify and review quality-related metrics, such as cost of poor quality, effectiveness of preventive and corrective actions, and statistics on root cause of defects.
- Ensure Supplier Quality Flow down and assessments/audits of supplier compliance to contractual requirements.
- Participate in production and acceptance test process improvement activities; providing Quality Assurance (QA) support in program milestone activities and analysis of broad QA issues common to all Acquisition Programs.
- QA issues particular to specific programs such as;
- Assess the feasibility of technology transfer/insertion opportunities.
- Develop implementation plans.
- Participate in the development of business agreements.
- Provide risk assessments of planned or existing schedules which will serve as input to the development/design/production process for system elements.
Education and Experience:
- Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience.
- Master's degree and fifteen (15) years of professional experience OR
- Ph.D. and five (5) years of professional experience
- Undergraduate engineering degree must be from an ABET-accredited college.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week and offers a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday during core business hours.
Other Position Requirements:
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for this position.
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance by the date of hire.
