Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an experienced Network Engineerto support our NASA customer based in FL at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC), the Kennedy Uplink Station (KUS), and the Ponce De Leon (PDL) facilities located in New Smyrna Beach. This position will be a hybrid of locally remote, with travel to these NASA locations as needed, which will require a person who is within a commutable distance locally to these sites.
As prime contractor on the Peraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment, and systems engineering of NASA's worldwide satellite communication networks. In this position, you will become part of NASA's return to the moon, support new earth and space science missions, and launch vehicles. You will be an integral part of a world class team that ensures NASA space-ground communications are reliable and meet mission requirements.
Operating here are numerous satellite ground terminals which ensure uninterrupted communications between various ground stations, NASA's orbiting fleet of Tracking and Data Relay Satellites (TDRS), customer spacecraft (satellites), and the computer systems that support such spacecraft. NASA's facilities serve as an interface for distributing satellite data to control centers and scientists who then use the daily influx of data to expand our ever-growing knowledge of the Earth and the universe.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing, analyzing, and the maintenance of site networking architectures, and will utilize your knowledge and experience in the fields of networking administration and cyber security support, to include the following:

Target Salary Range

In this role, you will be responsible for developing, analyzing, and the maintenance of site networking architectures, and will utilize your knowledge and experience in the fields of networking administration and cyber security support, to include the following:
- Configuration of Juniper and Cisco firewalls, and other applicable switches.
- Development and documentation of local networking architectures.
- Determination and coordination of the ISP and operational requirements of each operational enclave.
- Develop network documentation for equipment connections and configurations associated with antenna equipment. Documentation may require collaboration with NASA and FGO IT security consultants.
- Support technical reviews and technical exchange meetings as required.
- Configure and validate equipment and instrumentation performance required to support the antenna system, including bandwidth monitoring of data transfers, and working with different ISP vendors to ensure all connections are configured for optimal performance.
- Implementation of network designs and architectures to meet NASA's NPD 2810.1 / NPR 2810.1 security requirements.
- Support of annual Assessment and Authorization (A&A) audits as needed.
- Submittal of documentation requests for annual Approval to Operate (ATO) authorizations.
- Perform scans and audits of networking infrastructure and propose implementation solutions for remediation of scan findings.
- Assist local IT security team in building system security plan (SSP) data entries for networking equipment.
- Prepare and present remediation documentation to include: MS Word documents, MS PowerPoint slides, MS Excel files, and any other documentation as requested by the government.
- Demonstrate the ability to work on multiple simultaneous projects, while meeting infrastructure development deadlines.
- Utilize AutoCAD and/or Visio drawing packages to render thorough and concise drawing packages requested by the government.
Qualifications
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or other related Engineering discipline, and 8 - 10+ years of related Network Engineering experience; without a degree, 12 - 14+ years of directly related experience that includes technical training, may be considered
- 8+ years' experience working with network administration principles including IP fundamentals, layer 2, layer 3, and firewall application maintenance
- 5+ years' experience with Cisco and Juniper switch and firewalls
- 3+ years' experience working with Cyber (IT) security concepts
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Visio drawing packages
- Security clearance - NASA agency Public Trust and the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance if required by the program, which requires a US citizen
Desired Experience:
- Experience configuring Linux system networking hardware
- Experience with Virtual LAN (vLAN) environments
- Experience with Border Gateway Protols (BGP)
- Experience with building IPSEC tunnels
- CCNA certification is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with MS Windows and Linux administration via PowerShell and command line
- Ability to work in both a team environment and independently as a proactive self-starter
- Excellent organizational skills such as prioritizing and completing multiple tasks within critical deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
