Accounting/Billing Specialist – Portland area
Schwabe is a leading Pacific Northwest law firm across four states. We are seeking a team member to join our Accounting department to help us better serve our clients.
This position will be located in our Portland or Vancouver office. This role will work in office 3 days per week with options to work remote Monday & Friday.
Responsibilities include:
- Compile and process a high volume of attorney bills to clients on a monthly basis
- Review and edit proformas in response to the attorney and secretary requests
- Execute complex bills, such as multiple discounts by matter, split party billing, and preparation of electronic billing statements, in a timely manner
- Submit invoices electronically and assist in resolving issues that might arise
- Creation and maintenance of billing department spreadsheets
- Review and verify accuracy of billing supporting documentation as required
- Research and respond to inquiries regarding billing issues and problems
- Identify and resolve billing inaccuracies
- Create billing schedules and various other billing analyses as needed
- Respond to internal and external inquiries in a timely manner
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops & reviewing industry publications
- Remain current with up-to-date product information for all accounting software in use
- Assist with special projects as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Three plus years of experience in Accounting/Billing
- Law Firm experience highly preferred
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- High level of organization, accuracy and attention to details
- Ability to complete tasks efficiently
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with attorneys, staff and team members regarding commitments, deadlines, challenges and requests
- Ability to deliver a high standard of customer service in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently while working in a team environment
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Working knowledge of accounting principles
- Excellent data entry skills
- Enterprise/3E financial systems a plus and/or time and material billing experience a plus
- High school diploma

Salary range: $58,000 - $62,000 DOE
