Job Description
Responsible to oversee and to maintain the efficiency of the accounting operations, including accounts payable (AP), ledger maintenance, financial accounting, and application maintenance. Maintains and ensures compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Performs detailed accounting analyses and works with staff and departments to resolve accounting and reporting issues. Supervises the accounts payable staff. Participates in special projects in support of the Company's strategic initiatives.

Primary Accountabilities:
- Oversees Accounts Payable function, including review, approval, and release of disbursements, ensuring that payments are properly approved in accordance with policy are paid timely and accurately.
- Supervises and participates in and reviews the work of employees preparing and processing journal entries, accrual, and prepaid maintenance.
- Facilitates a timely and accurate month-end closing process. Assists with the overall review of general ledger account balances. Prepares cut-off and month-end reports to ensure reasonableness and investigating significant variances from expected results.
- Supervise AP staff, including meeting regularly to discuss performance, coaching, goal setting, and opportunities for improvement.
- Continuously evaluates and implements process improvement initiatives to streamline, automate work and create efficiencies. Participates in special projects in support of the Company’s strategic initiatives to improve performance.
- Assists in preparation and review of account reconciliation, research, and resolves any discrepancies and reconciling items.
- Maintains the general ledger and accounts payable systems, including establishment of cost centers, tiers, accounts, user defined reports, interface/mapping with subsystems and external applications and coordination of release testing. Ensures appropriateness of general ledger structure and data requirement to meet operational, financial, regulatory, and management reporting needs of the Company.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited 4-year university required.
Experience:
- 4+ years of accounts payable, accounting operation, financial experience required.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience required.
Licenses and Certifications:
- CPA, CMA, or other accounting certifications preferred.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Must be able to perform light physical work and to move or lift items including but not limited to boxes, files and papers up to 20 pounds unless otherwise as indicated.
- Must be able to operate and proficiently use standard office equipment, including phone, copier, personal computer and/or other work related mechanical or electronic devices and applications.
- Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with all internal and external customers. Must also be able to hear sufficiently to engage in daily discussions and interactions.
- Must be able to read and understand bank-related documents.
- Must be able to work in a conventional office setting, involving sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods of time. Must also be able to adapt to different work environments as needed to perform the job.
