Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging (WRAAA) is a private non-profit corporation located, organized and designated by the State of Ohio to be the planning, coordinating and administrative agency for federal and state aging programs in Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain and Medina Counties. It is one of twelve Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) in the state organized together with local service provider organizations and the Ohio Department of Aging (ODA) to form the state's public aging services network. The network works together to create opportunities for Ohioan's to receive needed home and community services and supports; and to age successfully in their own homes and communities.

Job Duties:
  • Monitor the day-to-day operations of the accounts payable, accounts receivable, passport, consumer liability activities, and staff.
  • Communicate any exceptions or problems to the Director of Financial Operations.
  • Train and review the accounting specialist's general ledger coding.
  • Maintain Accounts Receivable, client liability and accounts payable files and records in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Follow the record retention policy provided by the ODA.
  • Monitor the monthly billing and collection policies and procedures of the Consumer Liability function, MyCare and other programs.
  • Identify consumer liability accounts that are uncollectable and process them according to ODA policies and procedures.
  • Meet all ODA reporting requirements and deadlines for consumer liability reporting.
  • Oversee the daily processing and deposit of cash receipts.
  • Monitor the accounts payable function for processing of invoices, accuracy of input, timeliness of payments and information requests.
  • Provide general ledger account coding for vendor invoices.
  • Encumber provider contracts, and various contracts as received and process payments according to contract provisions.
  • Oversee Purchasing
  • Verify that the information required to maintain the OASIS system is updated to reflect contract terms and provider payments.
  • Oversee the coordination of agency parking.
  • Oversee the distribution of monthly key cards and verify the accuracy of the monthly parking bills.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • This position's primary duty is to perform work directly related to the successful operation of the Agency. Accordingly, the employee must exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
  • All staff have the responsibility and authority to propose ways to improve quality and to fully participate in quality improvement efforts.

Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in accounting or equivalent (two years of classes) is a minimum requirement, Bachelor's preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience.
  • Accounts receivable and accounts payable and fund/general accounting experience.
  • Ability to organize and plan activities and set priorities.
  • Ability to work with others and to effectively and clearly respond to information requests from internal and external agencies, superiors, subordinates, co-workers, providers, and consumers.
  • Experience in Microsoft office software and computerized accounting systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
