Description
Las Vegas based, real estate, vacation ownership and hospitality company is currently seeking an Accounting Manager to join our team.
Summary:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager assists the Corporate Controller in the supervision of staff and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, consolidation, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. The Accounting Manager will have contact with the Divisional CFO and Corporate Controller, various operational managers and the external audit firm which will require strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
Responsibilities:
• Manage and oversee the daily operations in the accounting department.
• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting, consolidation, and general ledger structure.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all monthly financial information, including the supervision of the accounting staff, to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
• Analyze and interpret financial information that operators and corporate executives need to make sound business decisions.
• Review and monitor costs inherent in the business.
• Complete budget and forecasting activities.
• Respond to inquiries from Accounting Management, and other finance and company-wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.
• Work with external auditors to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.
• Support, identify and improve internal control environment.
• Collaborate with the VP of Accounting and Corporate Controller to support overall department goals and objectives.
• Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
• Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
• Provide training to new staff and develop existing staff.
• Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
Requirements
• BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in accounting.
• Three to five years prior experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area.
• Working knowledge of and ability to apply U.S. GAAP.
• Extreme attention to detail and high level of professionalism.
• Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and analytical skills required.
• Highly motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Strong proficiency with MS Excel.
• NetSuite and Yellowdog inventory software experience a plus, but not a requirement.
