Accounting Manager

Our Accounting Managers are the orchestrators of our client’s accounting department, collaborating with and mentoring our Client Accountants to learn from each other and share the workload for a harmonious work/life balance.
This position directs a team of Client Accountants and has regular opportunities to collaborate with Sr. Controllers, Finance Managers, and CFOs on our staff, all of whom work together to support our client businesses. Ambitious Accounting Managers in our firm advance their careers by continuing to streamline their teams’ processes, advancing the skills of their client accountants, and managing a larger team - allowing them to grow their own skills and make more!
Minimum Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10+ years of accounting experience
- 3+ years of supervisory experience – including interviewing, training, and mentoring staff
- Minimum 1 year of transactional accounting experience using software such as QuickBooks Online - Experience with Bill.com, Expensify, Intaact, or having a QuickBooks Online Pro Advisor certification is highly preferred (those that do not have QuickBooks Online certification will need to provide this within in their first 30 days of employment)
- Committed to working at least 35-40 hours a week

- Experience in fractional accounting is a plus

Development of the Role (3-9 Month timeline, on average)
1. Client Accountant – Under the direction of a highly successful Accounting Manager you will focus on mastering the processes and procedures of SPRCHRGR. The Accounting Manager will act as a mentor to ensure you have a solid grasp of our procedures before assuming management responsibilities.
2. Manager-In-Training – You will begin to transition toward managing your own team with the direction of existing Accounting Managers, your manager-mentor, and the Executive team.
3. Accounting Manager – You are fully responsible for the duties of an Accounting Manager and managing your own team.
Responsibilities
• Client Service
o Provide clients with the highest level of accounting support
o Exhibit an extensive understanding of accounting practices
o Stay up to date with the latest advancements in accounting principles and financial technology – and share them with your team
o Ensure your team is keeping up with all client communication in a timely and professional manner
o Ensure your team is following established processes for each client engagement. Those include accounts payable and receivable management, journal entries, monthly reconciliations, preparation of monthly financial statements, and payroll and HR activities
o Direct your team to consistently exceed client expectations
o Manage communication with clients
o Help identify opportunities to add to and improve the client’s bottom line
• Team Collaboration & Management
o Participate in and lead company-specific and industry best practices training
o Onboard clients & accountants – including setting budgets, hours requirements, assigning staff, training, and adjusting when necessary
o Perform regular meetings with your team to direct day-to-day tasks and provide actionable feedback
o Provide on-going collaborative feedback to your team and help them grow
o Balance a flexible schedule with your team of Client Accountants; cross-train, load-balance, and provide subject matter expertise with your colleagues

Proficient In
General ledger accounting fundamentals, management, mentorship, budgeting, customer service, QuickBooks Online, Intaact, Microsoft Excel, Cloud-based software, learning new tools & processes

Pay: $38.00 - $43.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
