The typical starting salary range ($121,300 - $150,300) for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Independently manages the Corporate Regulatory Workers' Compensation (WC) Unit Statistical Team in a deadline focused environment with ultimate responsibility for the accuracy of the work. Identifies emerging WC Reporting issues and develops processes to address them. Communicates Reporting and compliance concerns to a variety of audiences, both internally and to external Regulatory agencies, including making presentations to senior management. Fosters the development of the team by setting objectives that challenge them while providing on-going coaching. Builds a culture of innovation to continuously improve processes to ensure work is performed in the fastest, most efficient means possible.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of reporting requirements for the Corporate Regulatory WC Unit Statistical Reporting Team, including but not limited to, WC Unit Statistical and DCI Reporting.
- Responsible for the accurate production of all financial reports issued by the Regulatory WC USR team, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements.
- Researches highly complex Workers Compensation reporting issues and develops processes to address them, communicating appropriately to senior management. Develops, documents, and assures adherence to an internal control framework that ensures accurate and timely regulatory reporting.
- Makes recommendations to continuously improve the overall control environment.
- Provides sound regulatory advice to business units or other departments, anticipating the Statistical Reporting impact of changes in the business environment and making recommendations to ensure appropriate reporting.
- Understands how data flows through the various detail source and Regulatory reporting systems, planning appropriately for changes and recommending and implementing enhancements.
- Coaches the team to assess the business value and efficiency of the work performed, identifying and implementing improvements. Initiates and/or leads increasingly complex projects and continuous improvement activities that may span beyond the scope of own team`s responsibilities.
- Delivers business results while building the team`s capabilities by setting challenging objectives and coaching the team in meeting them. Has the vision to create employee development plans that build strengths needed for the current operation and for the future. Takes action to attract, engage and advance the careers of people from all backgrounds and experiences
- Works very closely with offshore team.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent accounting experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of accounting or finance experience
- Extensive knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of insurance accounting required.
- Experience dealing with statistical agencies and independent bureaus.
- Ability to assess and communicate financial implications of business plans and actions.
- Ability to display profit orientation and business results focus. Demonstrates business partnering ability and focus on business results.
- Ability to communicate in non-technical terms and present analysis in an understandable and concise manner.
- Management experience preferred.
