Pay $125K-$177K.

- Supervises: Accountant II, Accountant III, Sr. Accountant, Advanced Accountant
Regular Contacts:
- All areas of the Treasurer's Office
- Various managers and Coordinating Managers throughout the organization
- Controller, Finance and Accounting Director, and Treasurer
- General Counsel Office
Education/Experience:
- Advanced degree or Certified Public Accounting (CPA) certificate required.
- Eight to ten years of professional and supervisory experience in general accounting.
- Solid understanding of fund accounting principles and working knowledge of trust accounting preferred.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Experienced in financial and accounting software and systems.
- Managerial and supervisory skills are essential.
- Advanced ability to communicate effectively with various audiences verbally and in writing.
Technology Skills:
- Ability to identify opportunities for the application of technology to enhance and automate accounting practices.
- Active user of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with a strong depth of knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Power Query.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new systems and software tools.
- General financial report writing skills are required.
Summary: The Accounting Manager, General Ledger, is an integral part of the Treasurer's Office management team. This position works with a team of professionals supporting the diverse activities of the Organization The Manager oversees the operation of general ledger accounting and related functions, engages in various areas of business, and contributes to projects such as personnel development, compensation, budgeting, and policy development. The role involves collaborating with the Controller, providing backup, and actively participating in the management and leadership of the Treasurer's Office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- General Ledger Operations (50%):
- Manages the operational requirements of accounting for all areas of the organization.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Oversees complex accounting in areas such as leasing, restricted funds, and trusts.
- Maintains general ledger configuration in the organization's payroll system.
- Ensures internal controls, data accuracy, and monthly and annual closing schedules.
- Audit Support (30%):
- Leads GL team to provide required client-prepared schedules for the annual audit.
- Delivers audit schedules and financial statement footnotes under the Controller's direction.
- Responds to auditor's requests and ensures data maintenance for future auditor requests.
- Staff Supervision (20%):
- Supervises the general ledger staff and actively engages in their training and professional development.
- Works on raising the skill levels of each employee with attention to succession planning.
