Role Description:
In the role of Accounting Manager, you will be part of our Program Accounting team that is responsible for the accurate accounting of our claims. You will work closely with our Claims department and third party administrators (TPAs) to gather data, analyze the information and manage the records for this area of our business. Your contributions of accurately and efficiently navigating this complex bookkeeping, benefits everyone within Safety National.
In this particular role, you will be a hands-on functional manager. You will be responsible for the performance management of multiple team members, including coaching, mentoring and providing timely feedback, while also reviewing and approving journal entries and account reconciliations which pertain to records associated with Safety National's insurance products. Your day-to-day responsibilities as an Account Manager will also require you to serve as a liaison between the Accounting Department and the Claims Department to ensure reconciling items are properly communicated between departments and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
The ideal candidate is someone with strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a keen attention to detail. An applicant should be dependable, accountable, well organized, and collaborative. It will also be important to understand how to prioritize work, multi-task, and work independently. Finally, excellent professional verbal and written communication skills is essential for this role. Advanced skills with the Microsoft Office suite including the ability to writing moderately complex formulas, perform vlookups, and creating Pivot Tables in Microsoft Excel is required.

Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelors in Accounting, Business, or Finance, or equivalent relevant and progressive work experience in lieu of
Required Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of accounting experience
- Prior managerial experience
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills including writing moderately complex formulas, perform vlookups, and creating Pivot Tables in Excel
- Demonstrate strong analytical review skills
- Proven reconciliation and documentation skills
- Knowledge of financial statements and applicable accounting standards
- Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Keen attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters in Accounting or an MBA
- 3 or more years of managerial experience
- Prior experience in the insurance industry is highly preferred
- Prior experience in public accounting or "Big Four" firm

It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this range. Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience.
