The Blueprint CFO Accounting Manager oversees the accounting operations of the company. He or she is responsible for closing the books on a timely basis each month (10th of the following month). This position generally requires at least five to seven years of proven experience in various levels of accounting. An Accounting Manager’s job duties span a broad gamut.
Within Blueprint CFO’s hierarchy, an Accounting Manager typically reports to a Controller and/or a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The Accounting Manager has input on many financial decisions such as reporting, accounting policies, and cash management.
Accounting Duties
The Accounting Manager manages the accounting records and is responsible for the production of financial reports and weekly and/or monthly reporting packages to Blueprint’s clients. The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the reports are on time and adhere to management accounting principles.
Maintenance of records and the technology used to do the accounting are also the purvey of the Accounting Manager. With most of our clients, the Accounting Manager advises the controller and CFO on how records are kept and where they are stored. The Accounting Manager coordinates with all the employees involved in the accounting process, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, inventory tracking, and general ledger.
Accounting Policies and Fiduciary Responsibility
The Accounting Manager plays a large role in formulating designing and advising senior management of accounting policies and cash management. The job requires ensuring that the company makes sound decisions based on set policies and well presented, relevant information.
Managing cash and forecasting the sources and uses of cash are also an important part of the Accounting Manager’s job. Performing financial analysis and tracking key performance indicators to be reported to upper-level management are also an important part of the Accounting Manager’s job.
Skills
An Accounting Manager needs to possess the same skills a good accountant has; strong numerical proficiency, organization, good problem-solving skills, and excellent use of logic. Furthermore, a large part of the job is designing procedures and delegating tasks to subordinates. Our Accounting Manager must have excellent leadership skills and a big-picture method to approaching tasks, while still having insight into the daily details. Experience in working with different accounting systems like, QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, etc. The Accounting Manager must be a multitasker and show good initiative and be a self-starter.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements
- Manage accounts payable and receivable functions
- Prompt collection of accounts receivable
- Payment of vendors within agreed upon terms
- Payments made on installment debt on a timely basis
- Timely filing and payment of all corporate taxes
- Daily and Weekly Cash Reporting

Education and Experience Requirements
- College Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics
- CPA is preferred but not necessary
- MBA is preferred but not necessary
- 5 to 7 years of experience in a performing a variety of accounting functions in a privately held middle-market business
- Prior experience in supervising or managing a team of accountants
- Prior consulting experience strongly preferred
