JOB SUMMARY: (Overall purpose and objective of the job)
Kidder Mathews Accounting Associate is responsible for providing accounting/financial, commission processing, administrative and clerical support in the Corporate Accounting Department. Assists Accounting Manager and VP Corporate Finance with financial program monitoring and reporting. Ensures work meets Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and follows laws, regulations, policies, and contracts. A high level of detail and accuracy is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The reason this job exists is to perform these functions. These functions are performed regularly, seriously impacts other jobs, and there are a limited number of employees to whom performance of the function can be distributed).
• Follow the company's established accounting processes
• Assist in all aspects of day to day commission administration resulting in accurate and timely commission payments
• Create, validate and audit monthly reports to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Respond to all inquiries relating to commissions from agents and other KM departments
• Trace wires received and record appropriately (supporting)
• Assist with month end close processing in a timely and efficient manner
• Provide supporting reports for audits as requested
• Review accounts and confirm reconciliation daily
• Produce monthly commission statements
• Agent onboarding and maintenance support
• Proactively identify, develop and implement process improvements, documenting procedures to achieve efficiencies and scalability
• Assist in annual 1099 filings including obtaining W-9 forms
• Assist others within the accounting team as needed
• Participate in various ad hoc projects

SKILLS AND ABILITY:
• Adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ensure work is in compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and contracts.

• Accurate, attentive, detail oriented, with strong analytical skills
• Proficient at data entry; 10 key by touch
• Professional and customer-service oriented with the ability to interface with employees, management and clients

• Professional telephone etiquette with excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and organize workload in order to meet daily, weekly, monthly and annual deadlines
• Professional level of confidentiality in handling employee information
• Demonstrated high level of initiative and strong trouble shooting skills
• Ability to work outside of normal office hours to meet various deadlines
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High School Degree or Equivalent, AA in accounting is preferred
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 2+ years of related experience
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: PC literate (internet, Excel, Word, Outlook) and working knowledge of Accounting systems (Microsoft Dynamics or SL is preferred). Strong Excel skills required - high accuracy and speed in data entry to perform this job.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a standard office environment with standard office noise like talking, office equipment, etc.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee must frequently sit and use a computer for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities are required to do this job including close vision. The employee must sometimes lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.
