Job description

Choice Property Resources is a well-established, business-to-business professional services firm seeking a full-timeAccounting Assistant & Payroll Coordinatorto support the accounting department. The ideal candidate should have strong Excel skills, QuickBooks desktop or enterprise experience, the ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in a variety of situations and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. The Accounting Assistant and Payroll Coordinator will be able to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment and adjust to changing priorities with ease. Overall, this position will spend approximately 70% of their time on accounting duties.

Note: This is a fully - remote role and is open to individuals who reside in Traverse City / Northwestern Lower Michigan area only. To work from home, you do need a dedicated workspace that is free from distractions and background noise. Ability to meet in-person occasionally.

Requirements

What You Will Do

Accounting Duties:

  • Match incoming receipts with existing accounts
  • Assist with the audit process for vendor payments
  • Post and upload outgoing ACH data
  • Email outgoing payment information to clients
  • Assist with missing payments follow up with vendors as needed
  • Maintain subsidiary ledgers for customer accounts
  • Record and research transactions in Salesforce

Payroll and Benefits Coordinating Duties:

  • Process change-of-status forms
  • Track and implement monthly payroll related details (payrates, PTO, benefits enrollment, etc.)
  • Coordinate retirement program (401K enrollments, notifications, reporting, etc.)
  • Coordinate review of benefits programs with CES and company leadership
  • Assist with annual open enrollment
  • Coordinate employer paid benefits
  • Onboarding / offboarding coordination
  • Coordinate assessments, background checks, drug screenings, reference checks, etc.
  • Prepare quarterly incentive program results

Administrative Duties:

  • Scanning and distributing documents internally
  • Mailing checks

Assist Operations initiatives as needed and additional duties as assigned

What You Need to Have

  • Two-five years of bookkeeping experience
  • QuickBooks Enterprise, QuickBooks Premier and/or other major accounting software experience
  • Analytical experience a plus
  • Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Excel
    • Experience creating analyses, charts and/or advance Excel functions are a plus
  • Experience across MS Office products; Ability to learn new technology as needed
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time and the ability to meet in person locally on occasion
  • Two- or four-year degree in accounting or related field is a plus (not required)
  • Accounting and/or payroll related certifications is a plus (not required)
